A viral video of the event which surfaced on the magazine’s page noted that the brand will resonate with most smokers because they start their day using marijuana.

The message on the video stated, “Burna is bringing his addition to the Cannabis Community by naming his brand BrkFst.

“Most smokers will resonate because they start the day with morning marijuana consumption, Breakfast, your first meal. Hence the slogan is #Brkfstisforsmokers @smokebrkfst.

“Coinciding with Miami Carnival, the all-day celebration started with a Pop Up from 12- 3, Followed by Brunch at Miami Diner from 3:30-7 and had the team representing Burna Boy headlining at the all-white themed Tipsy Musical Festival at Bayfront Park, which closed out at 11 PM.”

The ‘Last Last’ crooner, during an interview with Home Grown Radio in Los Angeles, in October 2021, attributed Nigerian government’s refusal to legalise marijuana to hypocrisy.

According to Burna Boy, a good number of those living in Nigeria consume it and the government knows about it.

He said, “It’s not a zero tolerance. It’s like everybody does it, but no one wants to be the one that is seen with it. It’s just kind of hypocritical out there. Everybody smokes weed.”

The 31-year-old singer went n to argue the misconception surrounding the drug in terms of its ‘after effect’ was another reason why it has been blacklisted.

“It’s like some dumb shit, bro. You know that old shit when they talk about it frying your brains. They try to make it seem like if you smoke it, you will go mad.

“Right now, everybody is relaxed, everybody does it, and everybody knows that. It’s just a topic no one wants to talk about.

“No one wants to talk about it; everybody is cool. Nobody wants to make it a thing,” Burna Boy stated.
