Burna Boy establishes status as the African giant with one billion views on YouTube

Nigeria’s Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has hit one billion views on YouTube.

The African Giant sensation made this known on his social media pages, which showed his Youtube views garnering more than one billion views.

Burna Boy is a multiple award-winning artist with a Grammy award in his bag. He is probably the first Nigerian music sensation to hit more than a billion views.

According to a compilation by QED, Davido has 963 million views, Wizkid 960 million views, Tekno 790 million views, Tiwa Savage 318 million views, Olamide 311 million views and Runtown with 306 million views.

With one billion views on Youtube, Burna Boy has established himself as one of the biggest and most successful African artists.

He rose to prominence in 2012 after releasing “Like to Party”, the lead single from his debut studio album L.I.F.E.

In 2017, Burna Boy signed with Bad Habit/Atlantic Records in the United States and Warner Music Group international.

His third studio album Outside marked his major-label debut.[5] In 2019, he won Best International Act at the 2019 BET Awards and was announced as an Apple Music Up Next artist.

His fourth studio album, African Giant, was released in July 2019; it won Album of the Year at the 2019 All Africa Music Awards and was nominated for Best World Music Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.
