The country’s main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Monday said the declaration by President Muhammadu Buhari to run for a second term in office was an internal affair of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
President Muhammadu on Monday in Abuja declared his intention to seek re-election in 2019. He made the declaration at a closed-door meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The President said he was responding to the clamour by Nigerians to re-contest in 2019, adding that he wanted to give NEC the honour of notifying them first.
Reacting, the PDP through the National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan, said the declaration had placed President Buhari among the ranks of aspirants seeking to be the President of the Federal Republic, effective May 29, 2019.
