President Muhammadu Buhari’s aide on social media, Bashir Ahmad, has insisted that he has not been offered any appointments with the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), despite evidence of his appointment letter released by an online newspaper, Peoples Gazette.
Although Ahmad issued only one denial to the story via his Twitter handle after the Peoples Gazette published the story of him getting a juicy position with the DPR, he has however been retweeting supporting posts that the story is false.
When another social media aide to Buhari, Tolu Ogunlesi, argued that the appointment letter was fake, Ahmad lends his voice to it via a retweet.
“I can’t imagine the depths of combined evil & incompetence that’d make them publish that screaming forgery of a letter. Everything from address to Ref No to salary scale to letterhead is off. Whom the gods will destroy, they first make mad, is summary of this matter,” he said.
The letter, with reference number DPR/PE/03 was dated January 19, 2021.
According to its content, Ahmad who is still employed as Buhari’s media aide will earn N437,000.00 aside from other benefits
The newspaper had reported how Ahmad would still retain his position as a media aide to President Buhari and, therefore, draw a dual salary.
The letter was addressed to Ahmad in the Presidential Villa, Three Arms Zone, Abuja and signed by Sarkin Auwalu, Director and CEO of DPR.
