The INEC chief collation officer Professor Muhammad Hamisu said out of the total 2,128,367 votes cast in the state, General Buhari got 1,903,999 while President Goodluck garnered 215,779.
The incumbent Kano state governor Engineer Rabiu Kwankwaso defeated serving senator Bashir Garba Lado in the contest for Kano central senatorial seat. Professor Aminu Sulaiman who announced the result from the 15 local governments said Kwankwaso scored 758, 392 votes to beat Lado who scored 205,819.
Also Muhammadu Buhari, has won in his home state of Katsina with a landslide. The returning officer for Katsina State, Jibrin Amin, a professor, who announced the result on Monday, said Mr. Buhari polled 1,345,441 votes, while President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party got 98,937 votes.
