President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, has urged the two of the three arms of government, the legislature and judiciary to discharge their constitutional responsibilities without fear or favour, promising that his administration will ensure the strengthening of mutual corporations between the arms.
Buhari made this call while receiving separate delegations of APC leaders from Kogi and Kwara State on Tuesday at his campaign office in Abuja.
According to him, “it is when the legislatures, both at the state and at the federal level discharge their duties optimally without fear or favour that the country will enjoy the real dividends of democracy and archive the feat of strengthening the nations democracy”.
Buhari, who thanked people of Kogi and Kwara for their supports urged the senators and house of representatives members elected on the platform of APC to work with their colleagues and do what is best in the interest of the country.
Buhari also harped on the need for the legislators to be connected to the grassroots to enable them understand the plights of their people.
Speaking on behalf of the Kogi State delegation, Abubakar Audu, a two time governor of Kogi state, expressed delight on the victory of APC in the state just as he assured the president elect of unalloyed support in subsequent elections.
“We are here to congratulate you on your victory as President elect of the country. We were able to prove many people wrong by delivering Kogi State to APC 100 percent. We assure you that after your first term in office, we’ll still be ready to support you in whatever position you may wish to vie for.
On his part, kwara state governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, said there is need for effective partnership between the state and the federal government on provision of accessible roads and other infrastructures that will help boost the economy of the state.
“We Kwarans have the same focus of direction and we want to show strong followership to the course of the leadership style of Muhammadu Buhari.
“We’ll be seeking partnership with the Federal Government on providing accessible roads, health and Agriculture.
“Kwara will be part of the states in Nigeria to ensure that your government is successful.”
The Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, who spoke on behalf of the traditional rulers in the state charged the president elect to ensure effective transformation of the railway system, waterways and tackle the unemployment situation in the country
