President Muhammadu Buhari has offended his strong base.

On social media, his supporters who put up defence for him on every subject, became angry and abusive when in the middle of a tragedy, he visited Lagos for a book launch.

Bandits burned to death  at least 23 travelers who were leaving Sokoto  for Lagos on Sunday, December 5. Some reports say the number is 40.

The dastardly act was carried out in Gadan Gaya area of Sokoto State when the vehicle of the passengers was attacked by the bandits. Some of the passengers who managed to escape, were shot in the back, while the others were burnt alive.

On December 9, four days after the tragedy, Buhari landed in Lagos to commission homemade boats constructed by the Nigerian Navy, and also attended a book launch of Bisi Akande, former governor of Osun State.

On Twitter, Buhari’s key supporters were angry.

@Waspapping said: “If you need any further proof that President Buhari is the most useless and biggest failure in the history of this country, just know that he’s going  to Lagos for a book launch but can’t travel to sokoto to console with the families of the 40 Nigerians that were burnt by bandits.”

@isasquare said: “He doesn’t rate the lives of those killed, neither does he see it as his failure that caused their demise. We only get a Facebook commissary  message. You’d doubt if he’s even aware of the happenings.”

@Xsenic_com said: “But he has commensiserated  with the people of sokoto.”
