Nigerians say they are tired of hearing the same platitudes the President, Muhammadu Buhari, always offers anytime there is a terrorism attack against defenceless citizens, which is that the military will be given more resources to battle the criminals.
The President, in a statement, December 1, reiterated the same assurances he had been offering everytime there is a terrorist, herdsmen or banditry onslaught agaist Nigerians.
He said in the statement shared via his twitter handle @MBuhari.
“Nothing is more important than ensuring the security of lives and property of Nigerians. Everything is secondary when security is at stake. I will ensure that more resources are made available to the military and other security agencies to prosecute the war against terrorism.
“As we mourn all the lives lost in Zabarmari, the Armed Forces have been given the marching order to take the fight to the insurgents, not on a one-off, but on a continuous basis, until we root out the terrorists,”he said.
Using satire in subtle reference to how government officials dismiss unfavourable reporting, @chukwumamiche15 tweeted: “The North is Safe, Boko Haram did not do anything to anybody. What are the names of the farmers that died?
Who are their family members?
Where is the video evidence of the killings? Balance reporting
@asadiqtanko tweeted: “It is not about resources sir, there is need for strict monitoring, seriousness and determination in the fight against terror in all parts of the country.”
@anehi2008 tweeted:
“This is over flogged line, sir. People want to see the security not that made in a condolence statement.”
