The meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Abdullahi Ganduje was just an act for the camera, says the former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Ganduje, who is the current governor of Kano State, was pictured showing an engineering design of the proposed Muhammadu Buhari three-level interchange in Kano.
While Buhari was seeing in the photograph showing enthusiasm on what Ganduje showed him, Kwankwaso said the engineering design was so badly done that Buhari would not understand.
Kwankwaso, an engineer by training, while speaking with the BBC Hausa, wondered why Ganduje would take a loan of N20 billion for the project, which he said was the responsibility of the federal government.
He said instead of Ganduje putting much money into the education and welfare of the people, it was wrong to take a loan for a responsibility that belongs to the federal government.
“Instead of Ganduje to go and see the president and ask him to do the bridge, because it is the responsibility of the federal government to do the flyovers connecting Kano city to Wudil, the governor went ahead and presented a photo that was badly designed, which even the president did not understand… there is something better in his (the president’s) office.”
