President Muhammadu Buhari has approved N13 billion as seed money for the effective take-off of the much clamoured community policing in the country.

This was disclosed on Thursday by Laolu Akande, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, on his confirmed twitter handle @akandeoj.

Akande said, “To drive his resolve to rejig the security architecture in the country and deliver a more effective policing, Mr. President has approved N13B for the take-off of Community Policing in the country.”

He said Osinbajo at today’s NEC meeting asked the governors, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Finance Minister and Inspector General of Police (IGP) “to work out how the funds would be well utilized to ensure an effective implementation of Community Policing in Nigeria, and then report back to NEC.”

Akande said, “Specifically, the Governors would be represented at this consultations by the NGF chair and two others. There’s no relenting in securing our people.”
