Budapest 2023: AFN to ban Athletes without complete dope tests, code of conducts, right travel documents

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has listed conditionalities before Athletes could be picked for the World Athletics Championships in Budapest in August.

In a letter signed by the AFN scribe, Rita Mosindi directed all Athletes both home and abroad to adhere to the following conditionalities, which include completion of the Competition Test and Signing of the code of conduct.

The letter further stated that “The Federation want to seize this medium to inform all athletes that have qualified and those that are still seeking qualifications to the World Championships to note the under listed requirements and criteria as a prerequisite for selection to the World Championships.”

The requirements are “All qualified and invited athletes MUST participate at the trials in order to be selected for the world championship.

“All athletes will be required to sign a code of conduct upon selection to the a world championship team.

“All athletes selected for the world championship are to make sure their travel
documents are up to date.

“Only athletes with the required number of out-of-competition tests will stand a chance to be selected after the trials.

“All wild card athletes MUST participate in the trials for them to be selected.

“The Federation further said it appreciates AthIetes’ patience and also needs their cooperation in achieving the above goals.”
