A Yaba Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has remanded for 30 days a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) driver, Mr. Andrew Nice, over his alleged involvement in the death of his passenger, Oluwabamise Ayanwole.

The Court made the order following an application by the Police.

Police counsel, Yetunde Cardoso, who filed the application premised it on a four-count charge of alleged murder, sexual assault, misconduct and interference with a corpse.

Bamise boarded the state-owned transport service at Chevron Bus Stop, Lekki, enroute Oshodi around 7 pm on February 26 but never got to her destination.

Her disappearance raised concerns especially as her friend made public their communication when Bamise entered the bus and expressed fears over the conduct of the driver.

When the news of her disappearance became public, the police immediately arrested the guarantors of Andrew Nice who was later arrested on March 7.

It was gathered that before the arrest, detectives had gone to the last known address of Andrew Nice said to be from Ekiti State but were told that he moved out about a year ago.

Bamise, 22, was found dead last Monday on Carter Bridge, Lagos Island — nine days after she was declared missing after she boarded Nice’s vehicle.

Reports says she was tossed out of the BRT bus half naked with her private parts missing.
