British national wanted by the Nigeria Police Force for allegedly plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s government, Andrew Wynne has countered federal government’s claim that he is on the run.
He made this known on Monday while featuring virtually on a Channels TV’s programme.
TheNiche had earlier reported that the Nigerian police after declaring Wynne and a Nigerian, one Lucky Ehims wanted, placed a N20 million bounty on them.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyuwa Adejo said in a statement that anyone with information leading to the arrest of the duo would be rewarded N10 million for each of the suspects.
Reacting to claim, Wynne insisted he could not have been scheming to destabilise the leadership of the Nigerian government, stating that he has been visiting the country for over 25 years.
He went on to say that is ready for talks with the Nigeria Police and expressed readiness to meet with officials from the Nigerian High Commission in London.
He further claimed he has operated a bookshop in the NLC office in Abuja for seven years, wondering why the police are just paying attention to it.
Speaking during the interview, Andrew Wynne said, “I am not aware that I am a fugitive. I am not aware that I am running away from the law.
“I have been visiting Nigeria for 25 years and have had a bookshop in the NLC office right in the centre of Abuja for seven years. All that time, of course, the security forces have paid no interest in me.
“I am more than happy to talk to the police and have a discussion on WhatsApp or Zoom.
“I am more than happy to go to London and meet with officials from the Nigerian High Commission.”
