Supreme Court on fire

By Emma Ogbuehi

A section of the Supreme Court complex in the Three Arms Zone, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is said to be on fire.

A breaking news monitored on Arise News just now said offices of three Justices of the apex court have been allegedly burnt down.

Dr. Reuben Abati, the anchor of Arise News flagship morning programme, “The Morning Show,” paused the programme to announce the breaking story.

Detailas are still sketchy but Abati called on the security agencies to do the needful even as he lamented that the alleged attack is a new low for the country.

TheNiche is yet to independently ascertain the cause of the fire incident which started this morning.

But fire fighters are battling to contain the inferno.

It is not yet clear who is behind the attack and the Justices whose offices were allegedly burnt down.

Coming at a time when all eyes are on the Supreme Court as the Justices handle the presidential election petitions, Nigerians are worried.

Dissatisfied with the verdict of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) and determined to nullify the election of President Bola Tinubu, both the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, appealed the ruling at the Supreme Court.

While Atiku, on Tuesday last week, lodged 35 grounds of appeal before the Supreme Court, Obi on the other hand, Obi lodged over 50 grounds of appeal.
