Barely 24 hours after Lucky Aiyedatiwa was sworn-in as the new Governor of Ondo State following the death of the governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the state commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Raimi Olayiwola Aminu, has resigned his appointment.

Akeredolu, who was serving his second term in office died in Germany on Wednesday, December 27, from prostate cancer.

His deputy, Aiyedatiwa, who has been acting was subsequently sworn in as the substantive governor.

Aminu, in a letter addressed to Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, said his resignation took effect from Thursday, December 28.

Aminu said his decision was anchored on his conscience, as his leader and ‘dear boss, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON, joined the Saints Triumphant.

“I sincerely thank our dear Arakunrin and the good people of the State for the opportunity to serve in his cabinet as Senior Special Assistant on Lands & Infrastructure, Special Adviser on Lands, Works and Infrastructure and Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing,” Aminu said in his resignation letter.

Though Aiyedatiwa has pledged to continue with the legacies of his predecessor, it is expectedly that more officials who were appointed by Akeredolu and served under him will also throw in the towel in the coming days.

The commissioners who were very loyal to Akeredolu may not want to serve under Aiyedatiwa consideration the not too salutary power tussle that preceded Akeredolu’s death.
