BREAKING: Police parade kidnap kingpin, John Ewa, aka John Lyon

John Ewa was a dispatch rider with a commercial bank but got sacked due to alleged involvement in some criminal activities.

The police in Bayelsa have paraded a confessed kidnapper, John Ewa, also known as John Lyon.

He was paraded by the Bayelsa State police commissioner, Ben Nebolisa Okolo, along with three others today, September 26.  

John Ewa was alleged to have been the kingpin behind a series of high-profile kidnappings in Bayelsa State.  

According to a Vanguard report, John Ewa was a dispatch rider with a commercial bank but got sacked due to alleged involvement in some criminal activities. He changed his name to John Lyon in order to assume a new identity and then joined a gang that specialises in kidnapping high-profile Bayelsa residents.

He was arrested by operatives of Puff Adder in Abuja after two of his alleged crime colleagues, Kingsley Innocent and Godlives Donald were nabbed. They were all alleged to have been involved in the kidnap of Danjuma Emeije, a manager with Premium Trust Bank Yenagoa.

Emeije was kidnapped on June 30 2022 and was released after he paying a ransom of N50 Million.

John Ewa was said to have also masterminded the kidnap of the sister to former governor Seriake Dickson and top Igbo businessmen forcing many of them to relocate from Bayelsa State.

In a video that trended on social media yesterday, John Ewa confessed to having been involved in only two kidnappings.
