The exercise was carried out by a joint team of security agencies in the state.

“The operation resulted in the destruction of several makeshift structures within the camp, the recovery of 19 unexploded improvised explosive devices and inflicted significant injuries on fleeing suspects,” Ikenga stated.

The successful operation was based on credible intelligence about the gang’s activities and information extracted from suspects apprehended during ongoing police operations across the state.

Commending the joint effort, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra, CP Nnaghe Itam, lauded the synergy between security agencies and the vigilance of the public, stressing the importance of continued collaboration to maintain safety during and beyond the festive season.

“In light of this development, the Commissioner of Police strongly urges all proprietors of private and public hospitals to immediately report any individual presenting with bullet wounds or injuries of a suspicious nature to the nearest police station,” the statement read.

CP Itam underscored the critical role of this measure in tracking down fleeing suspects and curbing further criminal activities.

“The Anambra State Police Command assures the public of its unwavering commitment to maintaining security dominance through sustained patrols and targeted operations aimed at ensuring a peaceful Yuletide season for all,” the statement concluded.
