Abia State Governor Alex Otti has suspended the heads of all state-owned nursing and midwifery training institutions with immediate effect.
The suspension will be pending investigations and directives, a statement on Friday made available to TheNiche by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Kazie Uko, said.
The statement also said the Director of Nursing in the Ministry of Health, Nwosu Njideka, was also suspended with immediate effect.
“The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has approved the suspension of the Principals of all state-owned Nursing/Midwifery training institutions, pending investigations and directives.
“Equally suspended is the Director of Nursing in the Ministry of Health, Nwosu Dorathy Njideka. This directive takes immediate effect,” the statement said.

Earlier in the week, Otti directed the payment of fees accruing to all the state-owned nursing and midwifery institutions to designated bank accounts.
Uko said in a statement that starting from the 27th of June 2023, all fees must be paid to a designated UBA account that will be found in the acting principal’s office of each institution.
The statement said: “Any cash payment made by or on behalf of any student outside of this designated bank account will not be acceptable. Please be guided. This directive takes immediate effect.”
