According to Daily Trust, Omisore who was among the early callers at the meeting left the party secretariat without speaking with the media.

Those in attendance were Senator Abubakar Kyari, Deputy National Chairman (North), Emma Enukwu Deputy National Chairman (South); National Vice Chairman (North-West), Salihu Lukman; National Vice Chairman (North-East), Salihu Mustapha; National Vice Chairman (North Central), Muazu Bawa; National Vice Chairman (South-West), Issacs Kekemeke; National Vice Chairman (South-East), Ejoroma Arodiogu and the Deputy National Secretary, Barr. Festus Fuanter.

There were reports that Omisore and the embattled National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu, were forced to quit their offices on Sunday.

Following the forced resignation of Adamu, the Deputy National Chairman (North), Abubakar Kyari, is expected to step into his shoes as the new National Chairman.

A member of the APC National Working Committee (NWC) who spoke to TheNiche on Monday morning said the NWC had summoned an emergency meeting to ratify Kyari’s elevation.

The chairmanship position of the APC is zoned to the North. The former chairman, Adamu, hails from Nasarawa State where he was governor between 1999 and 2007.

“According to our party’s constitution, the position of the chairman will remain in the North and the most senior NWC member from the North naturally steps in if there is a vacuum. So, our Deputy National Chairman, North will be ratified as the new chairman when we meet today,” our source who pleaded anonymity, said.

Senator Abubakar Kyari, the new APC National Chairman, who was born on January 1, 1960 to late Brigadier Abba Kyari, former military administrator of North Central State from 1967 to 1975, was educated in both Nigeria and United States of America.

He obtained a Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Economics from the University of Tennessee, in 1986 and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with emphasis on Finance from Webster University, St. Louis Missouri, USA in 1989.

He was elected Senator in 2015 representing Borno North Senatorial zone on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

The South East is hoping to fill the vacancy created by Omisore’s exit.
