Obasanjo, Fayemi and Wike met at the ongoing Port Harcourt International Conference 2023 holding at the Obi Wali International Conference Centre

With less than 30 days to the presidential poll, former President Olusegun Obasanjo and immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi have met the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The three political heavyweights met on Thursday at the ongoing Port Harcourt International Conference 2023 holding at the Obi Wali International Conference Centre, Port Harcourt.
Wike is the arrowhead of the G-5, a group of governors opposed to the Presidential candidate of their party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Obasanjo is a supporter of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and has been deploying his connections to aide Obi in the February 25 poll. It is not clear if his mission to Port Harcourt is in continuation of marketing Obi as the president Nigeria needs in the next election.

John Kayode Fayemi is an APC chieftain but has been quiet in the campaign of his party presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It is also not clear if his presence at the Port Harcourt summit has any link with the ongoing horse-trading across the political parties.
The summit is tagged, “Deepening Democratic Culture and Institutions for Sustainable Development and Security in Nigeria.”
