The National Judicial Council (NJC), on Wednesday, summoned the Federal High Court Chief Judge and Kano State Chief Judge over Emirs Bayero, Sanusi tussle

Apparently, taking notice of the judicial absurdities going on in Kano State, the National Judicial Council (NJC) has summoned the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court and the Chief Judge of Kano State High Court over the conflicting interim injunctions issued by judges of both courts concerning the Kano Emirate tussle.

The summon was issued on Wednesday, May 29, by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola in his capacity as the Chairman of the NJC.

The judiciary has allowed politicians, once again, to drag it to the mud to the embarrassment of not only Nigerians but the international community who are watching with keen interest the on goings in the country.

The hitherto revered seat of Emir of Kano has been desecrated in what ostensibly is a proxy war amongst politicians.

Recall that a Federal High Court in Kano, presided over by Justice S. A. Amobeda, issued an order for the eviction of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II from the Kofar Kudu Palace, reinforcing the authority of the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.

Meanwhile, a Kano State High Court presided over by Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu, equally issued an injunction to protect Muhammadu Sanusi and other key figures from potential harassment by state authorities.

This order prevented any interference with the Emir’s autonomy and the seizure of key symbols of his authority, such as the twin spear, the Royal Hat of Dabo, and the Ostrich-feathered shoes.

It was learnt that these conflicting orders have led to significant confusion regarding the rightful authority and protection of the emirs in Kano.

The State High Court’s case is set for further hearing on June 13, while the Federal High Court adjourned the case before it till June 4.

This is a breaking story. Details shortly…
