The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Saturday, June 22, 2019, kick-started this year’s African Nations Cup (AFCON) with a 1-0 win over Burundi.
The match, which was played at Alexandra stadium in Egypt, was goaless in the first 45th minute.
The second half saw a more determined Super Eagles, who finally struck in the 77th minute through a substitute, Jude Ighalo.
Ighalo netted with a classy finish after an audacious backheeled through ball from Ola Aina.
Meanwhile, the progression of the Super Falcons in the current Women World Cup in France ended in June 22, 2019, when the German ladies sent them packing in the round of 16 with a 2-0 win.
