For environmental justice Mother Nature is crying out

His unique genre of music, which is a blend of activism and art, has put him on the global map with numerous recognitions and awards. He says his biggest ambition is to perform Mother Nature during this year’s Conference of the Parties (COP 27) at the UN Climate Change Conference which will be taking place in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt sometime in November.

Workman is a veteran talent hunter who first saw the potential of one of Nigeria’s greatest artists, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face and his other colleague, Blackface. The duo was of the defunct Plantation Boiz and Workman managed them for almost 3 years and was the brain behind their hit song, African Queen which was originally a soundtrack he was prepping for a TV series during the Abacha era. Then, he started managing plantation Boys. He said the African Queen was produced by the late OJB Jazeerel.

The multi-talented Nigerian artiste featured in some of the biggest Nollywood movies of the late 1990s, and 2000s including Full moon, Sisters on the Run, The President’s Daughter starring Regina Askia, Saint Obi, Sola Fosudo amongst other blockbusters.

He is also passionate about fighting for widows, an inspiration that came to him after the ordeal of his mother who was mistreated once his father died.

He founded the Advocacy for Widows Empowerment Foundation (ADWEF) to give support to women facing similar plights.

He explained the motivation for setting up the foundation: “After the death of my late father about 12 years ago, my mom a church deaconess, was forced to go through some primitive so-called devilish cultural practices that widows are meant to go through in some parts of Benue State especially the Idoma speaking area of Otukpa where I come from.

“All the inhumane treatments she got during my late dad’s burial inspired me to set up an organization called Advocacy for Widows Empowerment Foundation (ADWEF). I took the initiative to become an added voice to existing voices on widowhood. Running ADWEF as the founder has been my greatest fulfilment in life. I now see the smiles, joy, courage, and survival instincts for self-sustainability, among widows in our foundation.”
