The Zamfara State Governor, Dr Bello Metewalle, has confirmed the release of the more than 300 students of the of Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Jangebe abducted last week by armed bandits.
The governor announced their release on his twitter handle, @Bellomatawalle1
, on Tuesday.
He thanked God for the safe return of the girls despite initial obstacles.
His words: “Alhamdulillah! It gladdens my heart to announce the release of the abducted students of GGSS Jangebe from captivity. This follows the scaling of several hurdles laid against our efforts. I enjoin all well-meaning Nigerians to rejoice with us as our daughters are now safe.”
Recall that TheNiche had reported of the release on Sunday, which was not confirmed the state government. But the state governor only said that their release had reached advanced stage.
