Opebi area of Ikeja, Lagos State has become a Mecca as an helicopter crashed at 16A Salvation Road, Opebi at about 12. 17pm on Friday August 28, 2020.
The helicopter, which is allegedly owned by Quorum Aviation, crashed into a building in the area, killing at least two people.
As at the time of filing this report, the area was filled with smoke, crowd including law-enforcement agents.
When contacted, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said that rescuers were on their way to the scene.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) has confirmed that the helicopter, which was carrying three passengers, claimed two lives while one is in the intensive care unit at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.
Director-General, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyitolu, said, “We have deposited the two bodies in the mortuary. We on top of challenges especially crowd control Operation is ongoing and updates will follow.”
Eyewitness said that the helicopter dropped on the roof of a building temporarily and later fell. The identities of the dead are yet to be ascertained as traffic had built up at the scene following rescue operators.
