Schools in Kano come under government scrutiny after the gruesome murder of Hanifa Abubakar by the proprietor, a tragedy

Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has revoked all the licenses of private primary and secondary schools in the state. By Implication, any private school that operates in the state will be doing so illegally.

The action of Gandje follows the murder of the five-year-old Hanifa Abubakar murdered by her school proprietor after abducting her and demanding a N6million ransom.

According to the Nigerian Tracker, the Kano state government revoked the licenses of all the private primary and secondary schools operating in the state.

According to the newspaper, the development was made available to newsmen through the state commissioner of education Mallam Sanusi Muhammad Kiru.

The commissioner said a screening panel will be constituted to perform a fresh screening.

Meanwhile, there has been a call by Nigerians, including the First Lady Aisha Buhari, that the killer of Hanifa should be killed publicly, and with rat poison too, just the way he killed the little girl – with rat poison.

The rat poison death was first suggested by a Muslim Cleric in Kano for the killer proprietor of Noble Kids Academy in Kawaji, Kano State. Aisha Buhari said she endorsed the position too.

Abdulmalik Tanko is the proprietor of Noble Kids Academy.

Tanko, the proprietor of the school, has confessed to killing the innocent child with rat poison.

He had dismembered and buried her secretly at one of the branches of the school.

The victim was kidnapped in December and killed shortly after, though her abductors had demanded a N6million ransom.

It was while trying to get part of the ransom that the proprietor of the school was nabbed by security forces.

According to Daily Trust, there has been widespread outrage over the killing, with #JusticeForHanifa trending on social media for days.

In a video, which has now gone viral, Malam Abdallah Gadon Kaya, a Kano-based cleric, asked that Tanko be killed the same way he killed Hanifa.

He said the proprietor should be executed publicly, adding that President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Abdullahi Ganduje can get this done.

“His (Tanko’s) life is not more than this girl’s life, the way he took her life, his life should be taken also and let it be done publicly so that another person wouldn’t repeat such.”

The First Lady had reposted the video on her Instagram page, expressing support for the cleric’s call.

She wrote:“We are behind Mallam’s stance.”
