Rivers State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara, has sworn-in Caretaker Committee Chairmen for the 23 Local Government Councils of the State.
The swearing-in ceremony was performed at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
The inauguration followed the swift screening and approval of the caretaker chairmen by the Rivers State House of Assembly led by Victor Oko-Jumbo.
TheNiche had earlier reported that following the expiration of the three-year tenure of elected local government chairmen and councillors in Rivers State on Monday, June 17, Fubara sent a list of nominated caretaker committee chairmen to the House of Assembly this morning.
The Oko-Jumbo-led Assembly expeditiously ratified the list.
The new appointees are set to commence their roles immediately, ensuring that governance and development efforts continue seamlessly across the local government areas.

Fubara tasked the caretaker chairmen on the need to provide effective governance at the grassroots level and expressed confidence in their abilities to drive progress and address local challenges.
The governor urged the chairmen to work diligently and collaboratively to improve the lives of the residents in their respective local government areas.
Meanwhile, Fubara has mandated the Auditor General of the State to begin the audit of the accounts of the 23 Local Government Areas for the past three years.
While swearing in the Caretaker Committee Chairmen of the Local Government Areas, the Governor said the measure was to serve as a check for the incoming officials.
He urged the caretaker chairmen not to see themselves as superheroes, but to protect the interests of their people, and demonstrate that the government made the right choice in appointing them.
