The police in Finland have arrested self-acclaimed spokesman of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, Simon Ekpa.

Ekpa was arrested today by a team of police detectives at the behest of the Nigerian government for inciting violence and other terrorist activities in Nigeria.

Ekpa is a lawyer with dual nationality – Nigeria and Finland.

Until his arrest, he shared a video some hours ago on his Twitter handle where his disciples in the South East were enforcing a sit-at-home to last for five days, commencing today and to last after the election.

Ekpa had threatened that any person in the South-Eastern Part of Nigeria who tried to participate or vote in the 2023 elections scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 25 would be ruthlessly dealt with.

Ekpa was reportedly picked up from his apartment in the Lahti region of Finland by officers from the Finnish Central Criminal Police on Thursday morning.

Recall that on December 9, 2022, Ekpa declared a five-day sit-at-home which he claimed would be the forerunner to the full declaration of Biafra in March 2023.

Hear him: “When the time comes, we will declare our exit & defend it. I am hinting this to those who may think that Nigeria made them through corruption & they want to fight against our freedom. You better remain silent & allow the revolutionary movement of Biafra freedom in 2023 to free Biafra people from over 100years of bondage & slavery.”

Also recall that it was during the enforcement of the five days sit-at-home that gunmen believed to be loyal to Ekpa, murdered Prince Iheme, elder brother to Nollywood star, Osita Iheme, popularly known as Pawpaw.

Prince Iheme was in the convoy of the Imo State Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Martin Eke, who also got macheted, but survived.
