Africa and Commonwealth long jump Champion Ese Brume has won a gold medal in the long jump event with a leap of 6:99m and a Championship record in addition.
Brume who achieved the feat in her 3rd jump did not leave spectators in doubt after a brilliant performance at the world athletics at Oregon, US in July.
Meanwhile, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) President Chief Tonobok Okowa has expressed exceeding gratitude to Nigerian Athletes for a great effort at the Commonwealth Games which the Federation will build on.
Chief Okowa insisted that Athletes achievement was an indication that if well funded, would lead to greater achievement.
Recall that Nigeria athletes so far, won 4 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals all in 100m hurdles, women discus, Long jump women, 200m women and 4×100m relay men and women events.
Speaking on the giant strides athletes had made so far, in Birmingham, Okowa said, “We will put in more effort and pray for God to crown it.”

Earlier at the recent inauguration of AFN partnership with Premium Trust Bank in London, the AFN boss reiterated his desire to assist athletes find their future by making more funds available through partnerships like this.
