A court in Abuja has orders Immigration to return ex-gov Odili’s seized passport
Reprieve came the way of ex -governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili, when a Federal High Court in Abuja has asked the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) to return his seized passport.
According to The Nation, Justice Inyang Ekwo gave the order on Monday in a judgment on a fundamental rights enforcement suit by Odili.
Justice Ekwo declared the seizure of Odili’s passport as unconstitutional.
The NIS had, while justifying its action, claimed to have seized the passport upon a request to that effect by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on the grounds that Odili was on its watch list.
