After spending ten days in detention, the publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, was on Monday granted N20 million bail by a magistrate court sitting in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja.
Juwon Sanyaolu, Peter Williams, Emmanuel Bulus, and Damilare Adenola, who were arrested along with him, were equally granted N1 million bail each.
Five of them were arrested on the New Year eve in Abuja for holding a protest. They were charged with conspiracy, unlawful assembly, and incitement.
Complaining about the bail conditions, Sowore tweeted through his confirmed twitter handle that they were “discriminatory and harsh.”
“They kept us inside mosquito-infested cells run by #SARS in Abuja, after that they sent us to Kuje prison and later another dingy cell police cell operated by the FCIID, today we’ve been granted bail on discriminatory and harsh conditions. #RevolutionNow #Nogoingback.”
