BREAKING: Court declares Abacha Kano PDP guber candidate

Mohammed Abacha is the eldest surviving son of former military ruler, the late general Sani Abacha

A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has affirmed Mohammad Sani Abacha as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kano State.

The court, presided by Justice AM Liman delivered the judgment virtually nullifying the primary election that produced Sadik Aminu Wali as Kano PDP governorship candidate and ordered the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) to expunge his name for Muhammad Sani Abacha.

The judgement was earlier scheduled for 12.00 noon on Thursday but was later shifted to 4.00pm and delivered around 5:30pm.

The court granted all the prayers of the plaintiff in the suit.

The plaintiff in the suit is Mohammed Sani Abacha, while INEC is the first defendant.

Sadik Aminu Wali is the second defendant, while PDP is third and Wada Sagagi is the fourth defendant.

Mohammed Abacha is the eldest surviving son of former military ruler, the late general Sani Abacha, and his wife Maryam Abacha.

Mohammed Sani Abacha made his first attempt at the governorship of Kano State in 2011 when he sought the ticket of the now-defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC). He lost out to a former military administrator of Kaduna State, Lawal Jaafaru Isa, who eventually lost the main election to Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
