Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is set to clinch the presidential ticket of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the delegates convention which held this evening at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
Though the result is still being collated, it has turned out to be a two-way contest between Atiku and the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.
But Atiku is in a pole position to clinch the ticket.
The governor of Sokoto State and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, had earlier stepped down and urged his supporters to vote for Atiku Abubakar.

Wike had earlier pledged to support fully anyone who emerges as the candidate.
Atiku Abubakar hails from Adamawa State in the Northeast geopolitical zone.
The votes scores so far by the other candidates is not significant enough to cause any major upset. A total of 767 adhoc delegates voted.
The counting is still ongoing.
