The Senator representing Adamawa North, Elisha Abbo, has been sacked by the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
The panel of five voided the election of the lawmaker representing Adamawa North Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
According to Channels Television, Senator Abbo confirmed his sack. He also confirmed that the court ruled in favour of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Amos Yohanna.
In a Facebook post, Abbo urged his supporters and constituents to remain calm.
Abbo’s ordeal started after the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections, when his victory was challenged at the Tribunal by Rev. Amos Yohanna.

In his petition marked: EPT/AD/SEN/02/2023, Rev Yohanna had alleged that the election of Sen. Abbo was invalid by reasons of corrupt practices and non-compliance with provisions of the Electoral Act 2022.
He averred that Abbo was not duly elected by majority of the lawful votes cast during the election, alleging over voting at various polling units, false entries, alterations and cancellation of votes at several polling units.
Yohanna argued that some alterations and cancellation were not signed by the presiding officers of the polling units, and prayed the tribunal to set aside the election of Abbo.
Abbo is expected to file an appeal at the Supreme Court. At the time of filing this report, he was addressing a press conference.
