The die is cast. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has woken up at full speed by announcing dates for all its primaries to elect flagbearers for the party in the 2023 election.
But the dates are subject to the approval by the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), President Muhammadu Buhari before it will be ratified by the National Executive Committee of the Party (NEC), TheNiche can authoritatively confirm.
An unimpeachable source in the APC has confirmed to TheNiche that the dates for the primaries were decided early enough to allow the various stakeholders in the party to meet on it and either approve it or make adjustments.
He clarified that the statement of the APC’s publicity secretary, Felix Morka, to the effect that the party has not decided on dates for the election is correct to the extent that the other layers of the party, that is, the PGF, the President and NEC have not deliberated on the dates.
Meanwhile, the Abdullahi Adamu led APC which is less than two weeks in office, has shown to be business-minded by announcing dates for all its primaries ahead of most political parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to the timetable of events for the primary, May 30th has been fixed for the party’s presidential primary. The APC also proposed dates for the governorship, House of Assembly, and National Assembly primaries.
