All eyes will be on the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today, Wednesday, April 13, 2022 as the frontline presidential aspirant, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, will this morning take two consequential steps in his quest to becoming the flagbearer of the main opposition political party in the 2023 presidential election.

The former Senate President will hand in his completed nomination and expression of interest forms at the national secretariat of the PDP at Wadata House.

Thereafter, he will address the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP where he will unveil his agenda.

The former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), first hinted of today’s events in Bayelsa State on Monday when he informed PDP delegates that he will be addressing the NWC of the party on Wednesday where he will unveil his agenda.

“I will be addressing the NWC of our great party at the secretariat in Abuja where I will lay out my agenda. I understand Nigeria, I know what the issues are and what needs to be done to salvage the situation. All these will be unambiguously articulated on Wednesday,” Anyim told his excited audience.

The PDP National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, confirmed that Anyim will be meeting with members of the NWC at 11 am.

A source close to the campaign organisation, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorised to talk to the media, said the speech will be all encompassing.

“Nigerians will be pleased with what they will hear from Senator Anyim this morning. He has always said that he understands the challenges facing the country and he is equally clear-headed on what needs to be done to pull Nigeria back from the brink.

“So, what he will do this morning is to present an informed pathway to rebuilding and refocusing the country on the path of growth, peace and prosperity.”

The source said the agenda is not the manifesto.

“Anyim believes that it is the responsibility of the party to articulate its policies and programmes, which then becomes its manifesto. So, the agenda Senator Anyim is unveiling today is his personal pathway to giving meaning to PDP manifesto.”

Some support groups had on Thursday, March 24, bought the expression of interest and nomination forms for Anyim, as exclusively reported by TheNiche on the day.

The forms were thereafter presented to him in Abuja by the representatives of the various groups.
