The Akwa Ibom State governorship petition tribunal has ordered a rerun of the governorship election in 18 of the 31 local government areas in the state.
The tribunal ordered Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct the re-run in the specified local governments to correct the discrepancies in the results of the April 11 governorship election.
Giving its verdict on Wednesday, the Tribunal said it was satisfied that there were malpractices which marred the elections and therefore voided the results from the specified areas.
