Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has been flown abroad for medical care.

Before jetting out of the country, the governor handed the reins of government to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Akeredolu submitted a letter to the State House of Assembly requesting a 21-day leave to undergo medical treatment overseas.

In the letter, he also stated that during his absence, his Deputy will assume the role of Acting Governor.

The leave commenced on the 7th of June and is set to conclude on the 6th of July, 2023, taking into account public holidays.

The speaker of the House, Olamide Oladiji, who made the disclosure, said the Governor is a lover of peace and an apostle of the rule of law.

He said the leave which commenced on the 7th of June, extends to the 6th of July, 2023 due to the Public Holidays on June 12 (Democracy Day) and Eid el Kabir(28th and 29th, June,2023)
