APC

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may be heading into electoral disaster in the forthcoming governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states if the rate at which the governors and their deputies are quitting the party is anything to go by.

Last week, the Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, and his deputy, Philip Shuaibu, who were elected on the APC platform in 2016 defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following a protracted power tussle between the governor and the party’s national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

The same scenario seem to be playing out in Ondo State where the Deputy Governor, Hon. Agboola Ajaji, resigned his membership of the APC on Sunday.

Ajayi, who resigned from the APC at Ward 2, Apoi in Eseodo local government, immediately picked membership card of the PDP at his ward where he resigned.

It is believed that nine members of the Ondo State House of Assembly would join him to officially defect to the PDP on Monday.
