Buoyed by President Muhammadu Buhari’s eventual unveiling of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, the national chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has vowed that the party would crush all its opponents in next year’s general election. The chairman was obviously taunting the main opposition parties, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP).
The PCC inauguration which had suffered several postponements and uncertainties, would eventually see the APC roll full stream into the campaign. This is even as the party struggles with the burden of its Muslim-Muslim ticket by its Presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima
Chieftains of the party, had be Friday evening, thronged the State House venue of the PCC inauguration.

Addressing the gathering, Adamu, said, “with the formal inauguration of the PCC, the party was set to crush all opposition on the way to its victory during the election next year.”
Constituting and inaugurating the body had been a major cause of friction in the party. An earlier list of 422 members had been unfolded in September, which the national chairman spurned, raising issues of lopsidedness and the party hierarchy not being carried along.
Adamu in a letter conveying his displeasure, accused Tinubu of running a solo project and sidelining the National Working Committee of the party. He asked him to halt actions on the list until the relevant bodies and individuals were carried along.
“It suffices for me to convey the general and overwhelming sentiment of the NWC with regards to the ill-timed and unfortunate release of the PCC list, which confounded rather than pleased the members and whose withdrawal will assure the NWC of Your Excellency’s respect and disposition towards the Party, as well as the magnanimous spirit of cooperation towards achieving victory together with the NWC”, Adamu wrote.
Some prominent Christian members of the APC, including the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Federal Government, Boss Mustapha, his predecessor, Babchir Lawal, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, were omitted in the contentious list.
Faced with the disagreement arising from the document, APC suspended the inauguration of the Council. However, on Wednesday, another list was unveiled which contained some names that were initially omitted.
