Bovi faulted the Portuguese for relying on defence rather than attack during the game against Cote d’Ivoire

Popular stand-up comedian and actor,
Bovi Ugboma, simply known as Bovi has explained why the Super Eagles of Nigeria failed to pick up their fourth Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title on Sunday.
TheNiche had earlier reported that Nigeria lost 2-1 to the hosts, Cote d’Ivoire at the final of the 2023 edition of tournament.
Super Eagles took the lead in the 38th minute through William Troost-Ekong’s header.
But the Elephants rallied back and levelled after the break through Franck Kessie’s header.
With a few minutes left in the game, Sebastien Haller flicked the ball past goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali to give the host the victory.

Reacting to the loss via his X handle, Bovi blamed coach Peseiro’s tactics for the three-time African champions’ defeat.
He went on to fault the Portuguese tactician’s strategy of relying on defence rather than attack.
The comic actor, however, stressed that he would have still been ‘pissed’ even if Nigeria had won.
Speaking via his social media page, Bovi tweeted: “Blame the coach. We are a footballing nation of flare. Fluidity, through passes, dribbles, attack. Not all out defence. Even if we’d won, I would still be pissed. The style was evidently alien to the players.”
