Boniface, who plays for Bayern Leverkusen, was ruled out of 2023 AFCON due to a hamstring injury
Bayern Leverkusen striker, Victor Boniface has aimed a dig at South Africans following Super Eagles semi-final win over Bafana Bafana at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.
Chippa United Goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali saved two penalty kicks as Nigeria beat South Africa 4-2 in a shootout to earn a place in the final.
The match in Bouake had ended in a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes following two second half spot kick goals from both teams.
Reacting to the hard fought victory, Boniface, who couldn’t represent Nigeria at the tournament due to a hamstring injury, wondered how difficult it would be for Nigerians to get a South African visa following the win.
Taking to his X-handle, the Bundesliga forward tweeted: “To be NIGERIAN…You no no Wetinx God do for you This country so sweet.”
He went on to add: “To get South Africa VIsa go hard die now.”
Nigeria after the semi-final win, will now play the hosts, Cote d’Ivoire, in the final of the tournament on Sunday.
Meanwhile, South Africa will lock horns with DR Congo for the third place prize on Saturday.
