Boniface hails fans after winning Bundesliga’s rookie award, says ‘Naija no dey carry last’

Bayer Leverkusen forward, Victor Boniface has thanked his fans for their support after winning Bundesliga’s ‘Rookie of the Season‘ award, saying “9ja no dey carry last”.

The Nigerian international showed his appreciation shortly after he was named this season’s recipient of the award by the handlers of the German League on Wednesday.

Taking to its X page, Bundesliga tweeted: “And the winner is Victor Boniface.

“Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface takes home the #BLRookie of the Season award from Sorare after making an instant impact to the Bundesliga — in which he won four Rookie of the Month trophies in a row. Congrats Victor!”

Reacting to the post, the 23-year-old striker thanked his fans in a post shared on his X handle, saying, ‘9ja no dey carry last. Thank you, guys.”

On the road to winning the prize, Boniface beat Xavi Simons, Ian Maatsen, and Maximilian Beier to the individual accolade.

The Nigerian has scored 13 goals and provided nine assists in 22 league games for Bayer Leverkusen this season.
