Several people have been killed in a fresh explosion at the Dukku Motor Park, Gombe town, Gombe State few minutes ago.
The Monday explosion is coming barely 12 hours after the Boko Haram sect attacked Geidam town in Geidam Local Government Area, Yobe State.
Details of the motor park attack are still sketchy at the time of this report, but it was learnt that rescue efforts are on. Witnesses said security men have condoned off the area.
It was learnt that the motor park is always very crowded and this could result in heavy casualty figure.
According to survivors, the Sunday attack in Yobe was carried out by heavily armed Boko Haram members in Geidam, a major town in the state. The witnesses report that the police station in the town, the local government headquarters and the market were the main locations attacked and destroyed.
As a result of the attack, a detachment of troops has been deployed to the town on Monday.
The coordinating spokesman of the Nigerian security, Mr. Mike Omeri, had in a press conference some days ago warned of possible attacks on some targets in the country as the world celebrates Christmas and New Year. He had added that the information was as a result of intelligence reports received by the security agencies.
