It was bloodbather in Owerri, Imo State capital, on Sunday as the battle for supremacy between Governor Hope Uzodinma and his predecessor, Rochas Okorocha, took a bloody turn.
Okorocha who represents Orlu Senatorial Zone, was arrested, handcuffed and detained at the State Police Headquarters, Owerri, on the orders of Uzodinma.
When contacted, Okorocha’s media aide, Sam Onwuemedo, said he was at a noisy place and cannot talk. He, however promised to return the call. He hasn’t.
But a source confirmed the story to TheNiche. “Yes, it’s true; he has been arrested,” a top State Government official said.
The State Government had recovered the Royal Palm Estate along Akachi road, Owerri, on Saturday in compliance with directive of the Imo State gazette on the report of the Judicial Commission of Enquiry on recovery of Lands and other related matters.
Okorocha stormed Owerri today with a battery of security men and aides to repossess the property.
