Actress Kate Henshaw would have turned 44 on July 19 with a big celebration as has been the tradition with her. But the fire, which engulfed her Lekki Phase 1 duplex in Lagos on June 25, has since imposed a sombre mood on her. Except her sympathetic colleagues like Funke Akindele steps in and throw a surprise birthday bash to cheer her up on her day, it may just pass like any other day.
Kate, who is also a fitness instructor, witnesses said, suffered a huge loss as a result of the fire and has since relocated temporarily.
It has been widely reported that the house located on Oyibo Adjarho Street in Lekki Phase 1, was damaged by the fire believed to have started in the actress’ living room following the restoration of electricity to the area on Thursday, June 25. Said to have been ignited by the explosion of one of the air conditioners in her living room, it may take a long time for her to regain her composure.
But those who know the actress, who was called off location for the shoot of the pidgin English comedy series, Do Good, that has her paired with Basorge Tariah Jnr, said she is resilient enough to bounce back soonest.
Such people point to her being brave enough to do a tasking stage play with theatre director, Wole Oguntokun, her venturing into politics and countless other firsts in her life. Who can tell, she probably even insured the multimillion naira home and would soon get her claims to rebuild her lovely home and make brand new memories.
Also, the millions of fans and colleagues consolling her on social media may just help her get through this ordeal faster than anyone thought possible.
