Black Panther gets Oscar nomination for best film, seven other categories

The Oscar nominations are out and the film of the year, Black Panther, has notched up a nomination for Best Film.

It is also one of the most nominated for the event scheduled to hold February 25.

The other contenders include A Star Is Born and Vice with eight each, followed by Black Panther with seven.

Films with the most nominations are:

§ 10 – The Favourite, Roma

§ 8 – A Star Is Born, Vice

§ 7 – Black Panther

§ 6 – BlacKkKlansman

§ 5 – Bohemian Rhapsody, Green Book

§ 4 – First Man, Mary Poppins Returns

Black Panther is the first superhero movie to be nominated for best picture.

After the death of his father, T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) returns home to the African nation of Wakanda to take his rightful place as king. When a powerful enemy suddenly reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as a king — and as Black Panther — gets tested when he’s drawn into a conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people.

It film feature best Hollywood talents as Kenyan born, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Forest Whitaker as Zuri among others.

Released in February 2018, Black Panther was the rave film of the year.
