The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has cautioned travelers against falling victim to ‘one chance’, unrecognised and unregistered transport companies at the detriments of their lives.
The advice came timely as people travel for Christmas and New Year festivities.
The Corps Commander, Mr. Joel Dagwa, said that the FRSC officials had been watching closely to ensure that only 18 registered and recognised fleet operators in Niger State convey passengers across all routes and under strict global road safety rules.
Besides, Dagwa advised owners of transport companies, especially those operating distance routes, to ensure that their drivers comply with safety rules to ensure carnages were reduced on the roads.
He also disclosed that his sector has embarked on sensitisation campaign in Minna to remind motorists of precautionary measures to take and avoid accidents.
He urged the drivers to examine their vehicles ‘break-pads, avoid overloading and to change their damaged headlights.
He said, “We have about 18 fleet operators operating from Minna for both intra- and inter-state fleet and we are advising those traveling for the Christmas and New Year to patronize any of them to avoid endangering their lives”.
