Real Madrid produced an absolute masterclass at Stamford Bridge to beat Chelsea and avenge their 2020-21 semi-finals defeat to the holders in the process.
The visitors opened the scoring when Vinicius Junior played a one-two with Karim Benzema before pulling a cross back towards Benzema who headed it in superbly to give Madrid a 1-0 lead.
The Blancos doubled their advantage in the 24th minute when Luka Modric curled a delicious cross to the edge of the six-yard box and Karim Benzema pulled away from his marker and guided a header into the bottom corner.

Karim Benzema made it 3-1 to Real Madrid and scored his hat-trick after Edouard Mendy, miles out of his penalty area, fluffed his pass to Antonio Rudiger, and the French striker capitalised by rolling it into an empty net from outside the box.
While Madrid take a 3-1 lead to Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, Chelsea will need a big improvement in performance, especially at the back to fancy any chances of overturning things in the second leg.
