Big Brother Naija ‘Level Up’ second runner-up, Bella Okagbue better known as Bella has defended her love interest on the reality show, Sheggz, arguing he was misunderstood.

Bella made a case for her lover during a recent interview on AriseTV, where she insisted Sheggz was sweet to her while on the show and that everyone saw it.

She also said being someone who lives in the UK, his usage of words was deemed insulting by fans because what comes off as normal over there could be interpreted as an insult in Nigeria due to cultural differences.

She said: “I always told him that you might be misunderstood. I mean you live in UK. The way we speak in Nigeria is totally different over there.

“So he might say, ‘You’re sick’. There it’s okay to say that but here it’s not okay. It’s seen as an insult here. I mean, it might even be an insult. But like, different countries speak differently.

“I mean he was really sweet to me in the house, everyone saw it.

“I mean, it’s okay to be vulnerable in a relationship. Everyone gets vulnerable. I was vulnerable, he was vulnerable.”

She went on to say they both made mistakes while on the show because they are human beings striving for perfection.

“And sometimes, you get triggered by things and you speak in a certain way. That should be what should be placed on you.

“I mean, we all make mistakes. And no one is perfect. He made his mistakes and he’s not perfect. I made mine as well, and I’m not perfect.” Bella added.

The duo, while in the BBNaija house, had a relationship that was deemed toxic by fans who saw Sheggz as a bully, despite professing love to Bella and signifying his intention to marry her.

His constant throwing of abusive words at her attracted criticism and concern from the viewers.
